The plot takes place at the beginning of the 20th century, in a reality where alchemy is real, extremely developed and respected. The plot features brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric who, after attempting the forbidden technique of human transmutation, suffer the consequences. Alphonse loses his entire body while Edward loses his left leg. Edward then sacrifices his right arm to save his brother's soul by attaching it to a metal suit of armor. Edward is then given mechanical prosthetics known as "automail" in place of his missing arm and leg. Upon acceptance into the State Alchemists, he is given the nickname "Fullmetal Alchemist", all while searching with Alphonse for the legendary philosopher's stone, that will repair their bodies. Two alchemist brothers go on a quest for the Philosopher's Stone after an attempt to revive their dead mother goes horribly wrong. Look the CGI was fabulous and on point and I mean they got the characters looks down and correct but the point of the movie is that it's based off of the series it shouldn't have major plot diversion which is what it had.<br/><br/>Roy Mustang didn't meet Ed while he was dealing with father cornello, nor did Ed choose to leave Alphonse with shou Tucker, who basically completely Alters one of the major plot lines and while I understand it's physically impossible to cram a 50 something episode TV series into a 2-hour movie I don't expect so much Cannon Divergence. Overall, its a decent movies that have many positive aspect, but the cinematography and directing are not as good as the original, pretty good acting, good cg, as any other anime adaptation it would have its story packed short, its a pretty good job for this one though, yet there's lot of good moments in anime left behind, i don't mind with japanese cast even if the anime setting in alternate universe of europe, otherwise it would've been a better portrayal of the character. The first live-action adaptation of the phenomenally popular Japanese manga created by female author Hiromu Arakawa proves to be a mixed bag of eye-catching visuals and uneven storytelling — rushed and choppy at times, and draggy and repetitive at others.
